Reading List: Best of 2022

So, as many of you know, I like to read A LOT!  Each year I attempt to read a minimum of 24 books - two per month.  Someone reached out the other day and asked what my favorite books for 2022 happened to be.  As a thank you to the best TRIBE out there, I wanted to share those with you as a means of encouragement heading into the new year.  In 2022, these were my TOP FIVE book of the year in no particular order:

The Culture Code by Daniel Coyle (leadership)

I first received this book and asked myself, “Do we really need another book on business culture?”  The answer is YES!  Coyle has some new thoughts on the subject that are fascinating.  WARNING - this contains some PG-13 language.  While I do not agree with all of his thoughts, he has some new ideas that are very helpful.

The Confident Mind by Dr. Nate Zissner (personal development)

I got this book to experiment with the Kindle Whispersync function and to learn more about developing confidence.  My son plays basketball and was dealing with coming back from an injury.  This is very research based and has impacted my view on working with others in a profound way.

Knowing God by J.I. Packer (theology)

My father-in-law told me about this classic book.  We took it on as part of a book study with my bible study group this summer.  Wow.  All about the attributes of God.  Just incredible.

Killing Patton: The Strange Death of World War II’s Most Audacious General by Bill O’Reilly and Martin Dugard (History)

For some reason I have always been drawn to World War II, especially since the spring of 2020.  This is a fascinating book about General Patton, of which I knew very little.  This book reads almost like a novel.  I plan on reading his follow up on the death of Kennedy in January of 2023.

The Power of Regret by Daniel Pink (personal development)

I love Dan Pink’s writing style.  I picked this up as an audiobook as soon as it came out.  It did not disappoint.  His treatise is that when viewed the right way regret of the past can be a powerful motivator for the present and the future.  Very impactful.

I believe strongly that great leaders are also great readers.  Lifelong learning is an essential quality for any leader.  Perhaps this list can help spur on your own reading habits for the coming year.

I pray that 2023 is a blessing beyond measure for you and your family.

Happy New Year, my friend!
